
Every game in Total War: Warhammer 3’s new Immortal Empire mode, by default, ends with some devastating event in the world of Warhammer. It spices up the normally late game run of the Total War campaign. You know: a mass of undead, a huge horde of orcs, dwarves tired of everyone’s shit.
Update 2.1, which is currently due out on September 6th, will add a new feature to the scenario: “Ultimate Crisis Mode,” which turns off every single end-game scenario at once if you select all five of Apocalypse. Huh. The Creative Assembly helpfully notes that modified games “may have unforeseen consequences”, especially those that add even more end-game scenarios.
Ultimate Crisis Mode will only get more wild over time, I expect, as Creative Assembly will add more apocalyptic scenarios over time. Fans have already datamine the skeleton (opens in new tab) of the “Chaos Elector Count” scenario for a civil war within the Human Empire, and even in the truly infamous Warhammer fantasy apocalypse Warhammer 3 like The End Times and Vermintide. are not. The announcement of Ultimate Crisis Mode is teased in the End Game Scenario trailer above and on YouTube (opens in new tab), as well as deeply buried in the Update 2.0 notes. (opens in new tab)… under the heading Update 2.1. There are a few other tweaks coming to 2.1 as well, such as introducing condition tweaks, revamped Tzench Doom Knights, and other bugfixes.
