The Steam Deck Portable Gaming PC can reliably play at least 5,000 games, Valve confirmed. The company is constantly testing game titles, and it appears to have tried to run 7,000 Steam games on handheld gaming consoles.
Valve has slapped the “Verified” label on over 5,000 games available on the Steam platform. The company has also confirmed that 2,000 games are “unsupported”. This suggests that Valve has tested at least 7,000 Steam games on Steam Deck.
Oh, another big milestone – we’ve passed 5,000 tested, verified and playable titles on the Steam deck! So much to go on (so many games on Steam), but just wanted to take a moment to celebrate! I pic.twitter.com/el7iBWdEo8

Whilst Valve is confident that game titles are sure to work on the Steam deck, it means gamers shouldn’t face any problems when playing titles on consoles. If the game has some minor issues or negligible quirks, but is definitely playable, Valve slaps a “playable” label on it. For games that are not easily playable on Steam Deck, Valve indicates the situation accordingly.
To qualify as verified or playable, the game requires reliable controller support, as well as an onscreen keyboard if needed. Games must also support the Steam Deck’s native 1,280 x 800 screen resolution. Valve also checks whether the game plays well with the Proton compatibility layer which is required to run Windows games on Steam decks.

Valve’s Steam platform has over 50,000 titles. While being able to reliably support 5000 games is no small feat, portable consoles have a long way to go. It’s important to note that even though Valve doesn’t officially certify a game as Steam Deck Compatible, gamers can still experiment with titles that haven’t yet approved the Deck Verified program.
