Twitch is stepping up its efforts to make the platform safer by rolling out Shared Restrictions Info, a new security tool that enables streamers to share with other streamers information about users they’ve banned from their chats. have make.
Shared Ban Info, which the streaming platform announced in a blog post on Thursday, is an update to the ban evasion detection tool, which was rolled out in November. It works as a network that helps content creators protect themselves and each other from harassment. The process is a two-way street. One streamer sends a request to another streamer—whether a participant, affiliate, or mutual follower—to share their ban list. Once they accept the request, the streamer who sends the request consents to sharing their restriction information with that channel. Right now, a streamer can have up to 30 shared relationships.

Once the Shared Restrictions Info connection is established, messages from a user who has been banned from their channels will be automatically flagged, and they will ban or monitor that user based on their settings. The first chat message sent by the monitored user will have a clear red border and give details about the channels they are restricted from, which will help content creators watch and restrict them from chatting if needed.
“Nothing is more important than the safety of streamers and their communities,” Twitch says in the post. “Feeling comfortable expressing oneself is one of those things that makes twitches, twitches, and that can only happen if people feel safe doing so.”
Shared ban info could benefit marginalized streamers who have faced hate raids in recent months, especially Black and LGBTQ+ streamers. Each community has asked Twitch to do better to protect against harassment, and while the ban piracy detection tool helps track users banned for harassment, the shared ban information feature helps enhance restraint and security. can do
