Along with their main story, games usually like to feature all sorts of bonus objectives to hold players’ attention. But sometimes the rewards are far from what we hoped for. The proof with these five titles that offer some of the worst rewards you can find in a game.
#1 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Hestu’s Gift
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild may have breathed new life into open-world exploration, but that doesn’t stop it from offering some pretty boring quests. Like collecting 900 Korok Seeds, for example. And all this for what ? For Hestu to give us a beautiful golden turd as a reward. Sure, Nintendo has a sense of the troll.
#2 Gex – The bonus ending
Like any good platform game, Gex offers a certain level of difficulty. For the more adventurous, bonus levels can even be unlocked in the event of a perfect run. And once the final boss is defeated, the reward then drops. This is a moralizing discourse asking us if we didn’t have better things to do with our lives than spending so much time on the game.. Nice.
#3 Pokémon – The Diploma of Completion

” Catch them all ! “. With such a catchphrase, everyone knows what to expect when playing Pokémon. But what is the reward for an activity that takes so much time and energy? A simple Pokédex completion diploma issued by Game Freak, which only briefly appears on screen. Frankly, is the game really worth the candle?
#4 Shadow of the Colossus – The Secret Garden

Presented during the final cinematic, the secret garden of Shadow of the Colossus stands out as a post-game objective to achieve. But to access it, you have to finish the game 4 times while collecting all the lizard tails to increase your endurance to the maximum. All this so that on arrival, we find fruits… which reduce our life bar once consumed. Serious ?
#5 Spider-Man 2 – Something Different

In Spider-Man 2, players can search for “Hint Markers”, collectibles that reveal additional information about the game. In order to motivate the troops, Bruce Campbell, who provides narration, then promises to say something different once the set is recovered. And that’s literally what it does. He says : ” Something different “. Hilarious, isn’t it?
