ranking of kings In what was one of the biggest new anime series to hit the small screen recently, the series from Witt Studios introduces an adorable world that feels like it was torn straight from Studio Ghibli. At this year’s Anime Expo, the series’ director and producer shared important messages from the series that follows a young prince struggling in a royal conflict.
Director Yusuke Hatta saw the ball rolling during ranking of kings Panel at this year’s Anime Expo, where our own Megan Peters was in attendance, explained how the series sends a message about overcoming adversity:
“I’m not sure if this is a more recent trend or culture, but I get the sense that people think that if they lose even once, that’s the end, they’re canceled, and all.” Something’s over. But in this story, a lot of people and characters go through several rounds, some fall from a very high position, rank, or power, or what have you — but they’re all in some capacity. Let’s work towards rebuilding. So I know this might sound too idealistic, but I think it can apply to our real world. Well then, you can get back up, and give it another shot can give.”
producer of ranking of kingsMaiko Okada, added the director’s thoughts, detailing how the series has been able to send an important message to its audience:
“It’s also about having characters around people who either made a mistake or somehow fell through, to accept and forgive; the show has shown me the proper attitude and posture that you can take through a tough time.” How can I support people who are passing through?
