Most of us play video games for a touch of escapism; To avoid thinking about the unstoppable speed of time that is slowly leading us all to an inevitable death. But a new update for The Sims 4 comes complete with a bug that’s forcing gamers to face their own mortality.
The glitch is causing Sims to age faster than usual. Kids are becoming teenagers, teens are becoming adults, and some elderly Sims are dying on the spot. Fear (Want to start gaming now? Check out the best Nintendo Switch deals.)

While some believe that the whole point of the game is to put your Sim in a pool, then remove the ladder and build a fence around it (just me?), others deliberately kill their loved ones instead of killing them. Likes to spend time nurturing avatars. And so the bug is naturally causing a lot of panic among the ‘Simmers’ community. One gamer reported her wedding guests “fall like flies,” which sure sounds like Game of Thrones.
Hi Simmers! We’re currently investigating cases that involve auto-aging in savings by using Sims’ shorter or longer lifespans. We recommend playing with the default/”normal” lifetime temporarily or creating a new save as we work towards a solution.27 July 2022

Oh, and the terror doesn’t end there. Gamers have also noticed that the ‘High School Never Ends’ update (opens in new tab) has accidentally introduced the concept of incest into the world of The Sims, with characters trying to date their own relatives. Expresses ‘craze’. What’s the time to be a sim, eh?
Thankfully, it looks like the Sims 4 team is working on the issues. Speaking of bugs, The Sims 4 Quality Designer @SimGuruNick They say (opens in new tab), “I just wanted to acknowledge that dating a family member is something that, as we know, we have reintroduced ourselves.” (Interesting choice of phrase there.)
So there we have it – it’s been a wild day in the world of The Sims, and these bugs are with those weird Gran Turismo 7 characters.
