To go all ‘sick’ on you for a moment: yes… ha ha ha, yes! Tactics Ogre: Let Us Kling Together, a 2010 strategy RPG, is making a well-deserved return in the form of leaks on the site. psdalls, This Is Actually the Third Time This Tactics Ogre Remaster Has Leaked—It First Appeared Nvidia GeForce Now Game List last year—but this is the first time we’ve gotten real details about what the re-release will include.
“Based on the 2010 release, the game features updated game design along with improved graphics and sound, bringing to life a new strategy ogre that stays true to its roots,” the store description says. Here are some of the “updated game designs” included:
- “Fully Revised AI”
- “Several playability improvements, such as faster combat speed, auto save, and a complete overhaul to the controls and UI”
- “The class-wide level management system used in Tactics Ogre (2010) has changed to a unit-by-unit level system”
- Fully voiced cutscenes in Japanese and English
- new orchestral music
- reworked stat scaling
Tactics Ogre has a long history: the 2010 game is actually a remake of the 1995 Super Famicom RPG, which was also released on the original PlayStation and Sega Saturn in the late ’90s. Designer Yasumi Matsuno later created Final Fantasy Tactics, which brought together the politics-focused story of Tactics Ogre; Ironically, the 2007 remake of Final Fantasy Tactics paved the way for the return of the Tactics ogre.
The 2010 PSP version apparently served as the basis for this remaster, which is understandable—it’s widely beloved for its art and rich localization Smith and Joseph Reeder, who also worked with Matsuno on Final Fantasy 12 and the FFT remake. But it looks like Square Enix is making some significant changes to that PSP version, and is actually reverting some of its design to resemble the original Super Famicom design. The removal of the “class-wide level management system” in favor of the individual unit levels described above is an example. Another appears to be the removal of “TP,” or “Tactical Points,” which are used to cast certain skills in PSP games. They were also not present in the original.
Since the leaked fans have also pointed out that the 2010 version of the crafting system could use some reworking as well, we’ll see if the changes feel like the definitive version of the classic strategy game, or a slightly weird mishmash of new and old designs. . Personally I’m keeping my fingers crossed that all of the pixel art that Square Enix has implemented here can be disabled in favor of raw, sharp pixel art. It doesn’t look too bad from afar, but zoom in and it’s painfully blurry enough to hit HD resolution.

Tactics Ogre is believed to be coming to PlayStation on November 11th, but we don’t know for sure if a PC release is planned. Because this is Square Enix, though, I believe we’ll see Tactics Ogre: Reborn on our PCs — the only question is whether it’ll release together, or land sometime next year.
Now So: When Are You Declaring That Leaked Final Fantasy 9 remakesquare Enix?
