A new report from iconic journalist Jason Schreier claims the BioWare remake Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is experiencing major development problems, resulting in the game being put on “pause”. The remake was announced last September at a PlayStation event after months of rumors. At the time, it was confirmed that it was exclusive to PlayStation 5 and PC, with speculation that it would arrive on platforms like Xbox sometime after its initial launch. Since its announcement, developer Aspire Media has been silent on the project, leading many to wonder when we’ll get its next look or update on the much-anticipated remake.
Well, sadly it looks like it might be some time, if ever. According to a new report from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic The game’s two directors have been put on “pause” after being fired. Design director Brad Prince and art director Jason Minor were both fired this month after Aspire submitted a demo of the game to Sony and Lucasfilm on June 30. Employees reportedly felt excited by the demo they had created, leaving them shocked by the news that the project had been indefinitely delayed. Sources told Bloomberg that Aspire spent “irregular” time and money on the project and it would be impossible to keep going at this pace. The developer has reportedly been working on the game for three years and estimates it will be done by the end of 2022, but some said 2025 is a more realistic timeline. At the moment, the game has not been cancelled. Some even believe that the game may be transferred to Saber Interactive which is outsourcing work on the project.
If the game is released, it is highly expected that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Will make significant changes to the gameplay While largely leaving the story as it is. Only time will tell if we get to see a remake or not, but it is one of the most anticipated games on the horizon. It will be a big disappointment for the fans if the game gets canceled completely.
