Preview via a series of stolen photos before Sony officially presented its PS5, the console development kit is revealed today in more detail thanks to the video of a youtuber.
Remember. It was around 2019/2020. While Sony had not yet officially revealed the design of its future PS5, a series of stolen photos revealed the console’s development kit. Very different from the model we have in our possession today, the latter allowed the various studios to prepare their future titles to come on the new generation of Sony. And while this is normally a pro-only prototype, a youtuber allows us today to have a detailed overview.
A PS5 dev kit is wandering around in the wild
Several days ago, the Macho Nacho Productions channel indeed published a video in which Tito Perez shows us the machine from every angle for the very first time. Suffice to say that it is a real event since, as we have been able to mention, development kits are normally reserved exclusively for studios, from where they must not leave under any circumstances. We don’t know how the youtuber managed to get it, but the fact is that he has one and allows us to observe it in great detail.
It can thus be seen the presence of many additional ports and buttons compared to the commercial model, which arguably makes it easier for developers to work on it. In contrast, Perez clarifies that he is unable to start anything with the machine, which obviously needs to be activated. This is probably a security measure provided by Sony in the event that, precisely, the latter would end up in the hands of an unwanted public.
The Japanese manufacturer has always demonstrated a certain culture of secrecy with respect to its development kits. Indeed, it appears not only that the studios that own one are not allowed to reveal any information about it, but also that they do not have the right to distribute photos. And as much to say that Sony is keeping an eye on this subject, as evidenced by the eBay announcement broadcast last year which was deleted just hours after its publication.
