A new feature that arrived at the launch of the PS5, the Accolades system unfortunately did not appeal to the crowds. Sony has therefore announced that the latter will soon disappear.
With each console generation, manufacturers usually like to offer users a series of new features that can make the experience more complete and enjoyable. For example, at the launch of the PS5, Sony notably introduced a card system that allows players to access a specific element of their game with a single click, or to obtain live help in the event of of difficulty. But sometimes, some of these features do not find the expected success… and therefore eventually disappear.
Accolades soon to be retired on PS5
This is what will soon happen for the Accolades system. From its launch, the PS5 wanted to strengthen the community side of the console by offering the possibility of assigning badges to players with whom we had the opportunity to play online. This should thus make it possible to determine at a glance if our acolytes were generous, cooperative, welcoming, fair-play, respectful players and more. Unfortunately, in reality, this new functionality is far from having seduced the public.
This is particularly the case for the Accolades system, which “did not experience the level of use expected” by Sony.
Worse still, it actually turns out that a large portion of them weren’t even aware of its existence. Therefore, Sony has therefore announced on its official website that the Accolades system will be deactivated in the fall of 2022: “The feature hasn’t seen the level of usage we expected” ensures in particular the manufacturer, before adding to want to refocus its efforts elsewhere. “We encourage the community to send positive messages to each other” then concludes the press release.
