While waiting for Sony to reveal the list of PS Plus games for October 2022, here are our predictions.
With the new formula from PS Plus, Sony reserves certain games for Extra and Premium members, but continues to offer three games each month to all subscribers. After a pretty cool month of september with Need For Speed Heat, Granblue Fantasy Versus and Toem (which you can still collect until October 3), which games could be “offered” in October in the PS Plus Essential? We’ve put together a small selection, trying to keep expectations realistic.
Alan Wake Remastered – PS5, PS4
What could be better than a good horror game with an anxiety-inducing atmosphere for the month of Halloween? Alan Wake Remastered is a modernized version of the psychological thriller released by Remedy (Control) in 2010. It follows the adventure of a writer launched in search of his missing wife in the town of Bright Falls, in the northwest of the Pacific coast of the United States, where he will discover the pages of a horror story he is supposed to have written… but of which he has no memory
In addition to an updated graphic rendering (4K, reworked light effects, cutscenes and reworked faces, etc.), this remaster includes the two narrative DLCs released at the time, “Le Signal” and “The Writer”. Given that it was released almost a year ago now, it wouldn’t be surprising to find it in the PS Plus. And then, it would shed some light on the license, which will return in 2023 with a brand new opus soberly baptized Alan Wake 2 on PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
Back 4 Blood – PS5, PS4
We stay in the Halloween theme with Back 4 Blood and its hordes of zombies to knock out in cooperation. Pure heir to Left 4 Dead, the FPS developed by Turtle Rock Studios received quite a bit of fanfare from gamers when it released in October 2021, but it’s since been fleshed out with updates and two paid expansions that added content. We can imagine Warner Bros integrating it into the PS Plus to try to revive its attendance. If it is not free from flaws (balancing, AI…), the game offers a solid cooperative experience with extensive customization and an original deck system. Something to spend a few good evenings with friends.
Cuphead – PS4
We end with the indie guarantee of this selection, and not the least. Released five years ago, Cuphead is a real gem with splendid graphics and a remarkable soundtrack inspired by 1930s cartoons. Make no mistake, Studio MDHR offers a experience with the difficulty raised in a “die’n’retry” way, consisting mostly of boss fights and a handful of run’n’gun levels. A striking and unique game that recently offered a DLC, called The Delicious Last Coursejust as good as the basic content.
