As we slowly but surely approach the release of PlayStation VR2, Sony has invited some media to preview the future of virtual reality… and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive!
We learned it a few weeks ago now, Sony’s new generation of virtual reality will arrive in early 2023. If the price of this future helmet has still not been officially announced by the manufacturer, we already know that this PlayStation VR2 will embed advanced technologiesincluding a 4K OLED display, aeye tracking, haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and more. A very attractive portrait which today tends to be confirmed if we are to believe the first returns from the press.
The PlayStation VR2 seduces the media
Indeed, it appears that several media were invited to test this new VR headset in preview at Sony’s premises in London. They were then able try out four different games, namely Horizon: Call of the Mountain, the VR spin-off of the Guerrilla Games franchise, Resident Evil Village, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners and finally Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, which was justly announced during from yesterday’s State of Play. And in any case the result is without appeal: the PlayStation VR2 promises to be a real success at all levels.
Firstly, from a comfort and ergonomics point of view, since the general opinion believes that this PS VR2 has inherited the strengths of its predecessor, while improving what needed to be and adapting to new trends. From a technological point of view then, since it appears that the various experiments tested, and more particularly Horizon: Call of the Mountain and Resident Evil Village, largely succeeded in get closer to what is currently done on home consoles in terms of visuals and fluidity.
The media particularly praise the immersion offered by the headset, which also has a major additional advantage by inheriting the features of the DualSense controller. The wonder at the world of Horizon, the dread at the horror of Resident Evil Village and the intensity of the action in The Walking Dead and Star Wars are so many feelings that were shared by the journalists in their various returns. This is something to make our mouths water, hoping that the price to pay to be able to enjoy it does not become an obstacle for the general public.
