Sony will reward the loyalty of PS5 and PS4 players with the PlayStation Stars program. Launch dates, rewards… here’s what you need to know.
Officially unveiled last July and presented during the last State of Playthe program PlayStation Stars is now officially launched… but only in Asia for now. We will have to wait until October 5 to enjoy it in America, then October 13 in Europe and Australia. We summarize what you need to know about it.
PlayStation Stars: a program that rewards PS5 and PS4 players
The PlayStation Stars program will be accessible free of charge via the PlayStation App on iOS and Android as well as on the playstation.com site. The players PS5 and PS4 can get there two types of rewards: loyalty points and digital collectibles.
Points are redeemable for select PS Store merchandise, PSN Wallet funds and exclusive digital items. Regarding these famous virtual objects, they can take the form of figurines of emblematic characters or “peripherals celebrating Sony’s history and innovations”. The firm is careful to specify that these are not NFTs and that they cannot be resold or exchanged.

PS Plus subscribers have a big advantage as they earn points with every purchase made on the PS Store. And that’s not all: this program includes four status levels. The more rare trophies you’ve earned and the more games you’ve purchased from the PS Store, the higher your level, and the more benefits you’ll get. Level 4 members, for example, have priority access by contacting PlayStation customer service.. Inevitably, this privileged access is criticized by many people since it introduces a form of hierarchy between players. Let’s hope that Sony will reconsider this decision when the program is launched in our region.
