Omni VR, the creator of the eSport VR Omni Arena, will double the prize pool of its tournaments in 2020. Following a partnership with HP, the best teams will be able to share the sum of 100,000 dollars…
The main difference between VR games and traditional video games is that VR games force the player to move in the real world. Virtual reality therefore introduces a physical dimension that makes these games particularly interesting for the field of eSports. Indeed, it is more interesting for the spectator to see the competitors come alive in the real and the virtual simultaneously than to observe a player strumming on his keyboard.
It is in this context that Virtuix, which produces the famous Omni VR mat, launched the Omni Arena in 2016. It is a arena dedicated to eSport VR comprising four Omni VR mats. Weekly and monthly tournaments are held regularly, pitting teams of four against each other over exclusive games such as Elite, Core Defense, Hardpoint and VRZ Tournament. The best teams can climb to the top of a particularly competitive world ranking.
Omni VR partners with HP and doubles its tournament prize pool
In 2019, more than 1000 players from dozens of different countries participated in Omni Arena tournaments. Building on its success, and thanks to a prestigious partnership with HP, Virtuix announces that Omni Arena tournament prize pool will double in 2020 compared to 2019. While it was already 50,000 dollars, the prize pool will reach the colossal sum of 100,000 dollars for the coming year. Winning teams will also receive HP Reverb VR headsets as a gift.
According to the company, the goal of these tournaments is to give players a good reason to come back to play again and again in out-of-home virtual reality centers and other arcades. Eager to progress to eventually dominate the rankings and win the grand prize, players will not hesitate to come and train regularly to gain the advantage over their rivals.
