We think many of you must have heard that Sony is selling new PS5 models. They are more power efficient and lighter than the vanilla version. First, we saw it in Australia in late summer. Now, a YouTuber has published a video revealing all the secrets hidden under the hood.
Beyond that, there is every reason to think that the modified PS5 models will start selling in other markets and regions as well. For example, recently, Is PS5 out in India? Tweeted about it.
NEW: Two new models of PlayStation 5, CFI-1208A, CFI-1208B have been approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards.

Revamped PS5 Benefits
The source proves that the PS5 CFI-1200 series has a new internal design, which makes the gaming console more efficient than the original version. Notably, the new model comes with a newer and smaller motherboard and an improved cooling system. For the latter there is an additional heat pipe and a small heat sink. Due to all these modifications the PS5 weighs 0.45 kg less than the old version.

Also, now, the CMOS battery is under the heatsink. So when you need to replace it, you have to disassemble the console. The company has also changed the SSD enclosure. We think this is done to increase heat dissipation. Because of these changes, the modified PS5 model requires 20W – 30W less power when playing games. However, all these changes refer to its internal parts. We mean externally, it is no different from the original model.
Also, we’ve heard that Sony is currently working on another major redesign of the PS5. The new model will come with a detachable disc drive. What is strange, rumors about this model have been doing the rounds on the net since the launch of PS5 in November 2020. So, we are still waiting for it to appear in the store. The design of this rumored model and the old model will be different. The new one should be thinner and lighter than the current PS5 model.
