NBA2K League Franchises nets gaming crew (NetsGC) has announced a partnership with State University of New York (SUNY) for an educational event held in the New York metro area.
As a result of the deal, SUNY has been named an official education partner of NetsGC. Starting in May, the event will lead to an academic panel with industry executives.

In addition, high school and collegiate esports tournaments are also involved in the project. The first event was held on May 2, the series finale at the NetsGC facility at Barclays Center. The competitions will be hosted through esports platform LeagueSpot.
According to the release, the partnership aims to gather and educate high school students to enhance career opportunities in the esports industry.
NetsGC is the first esports organization to partner with SUNY, however, this is not the university’s first foray into competitive gaming. The ‘SUNY Esports League’ is being organized from 2020 in collaboration with LeagueSpot and infrastructure company Extreme Networks.
