Netflix has released the official trailer for its anime series Tekken: Bloodline, and it’s shaping up to be a faithful adaptation, sticking very closely to the source material.
“Power is Everything” is the show’s slogan, and it’s apt considering how the Mishima family has been the backbone of the games and their twisted, complex, and compelling story arcs. But a television show usually follows a main protagonist, and in Tekken: Bloodline the show’s creator and writer settled on Jin Kazama, which makes sense.

A significant portion of the trailer shows Jin being severely beaten up by his grandfather Heihachi. However it is not just family abuse, as they are martial artists and Jin should be toughened up. After all, there is a fighting contest to participate in.

The show listens to Tekken 3, as it appears that Ogre is a major antagonist, and who was the boss in the PS1 game. There is no doubt that there will be some supernatural demons present in this anime show.
Elsewhere, we get to see Tekken veterans such as King, Paul, Nina, Ling Xiaoyu, Hwarang, as well as Leroy Smith, who first appeared in Tekken 7. The American martial artist is an interesting addition to the show, considering he’s a brand new character. , There is also Kazuya who is seen badly, although in flashback it appears in the trailer, but surely there will be some twists in the story throughout the series.
The official description reads, “Jin Kazama learned Kazama-style traditional martial arts, a family self-defense art, at an early age from his mother.” Still, he was powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, changing his life forever. Angered at himself for being unable to stop it, Jin sought revenge. swore and sought absolute power to fix it. Their quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage – the King of the Iron Fist Tournament.”
Tekken: Bloodline will hit Netflix on August 18.
