essence
The Demon King is defeated, and the victorious hero returns home before the party is disbanded. The four mage Freren—the protagonist Himmel, the priest Heiter, and the warrior Eisen—reminisce about their decade-long journey as a farewell moment. But the passage of time is different for the elves, thus Freiren witnesses his companions slowly passing one by one.
Before his death, Heiter manages to impose on Fryren a young human apprentice named Fern. Driven by the elf’s passion for collecting a myriad of magic spells, the pair embark on an aimless journey, re-visiting the places the heroes had previously visited. During his journey, Freiren slowly confronts the regret of missed opportunities to forge deeper bonds with his dead comrades. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
