Takehiko Shinjou (Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso live-action) and Takeo Kikuchi (Kamen Dosokai) are directing the series, with Hayato Miyamoto (Takane no Hana-san) handling the script. Naomi Satoh is working as an executive producer at Netflix. Nikkatsu adapted the manga with Naoto Kumazawa (The Anthem of the Heart) into a live-action film in Japan in 2010. The film was released internationally as From Me to You in 2011.
The shoujo romance manga began serialization in Bessatsu Margaret magazine in May 2005 and has been collected in 30 volumes between May 2006 and March 2018. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in August 2009 and shipped the final volume in September 2018.
essence
Sawako Kuronuma is a 15-year-old student who is often mistaken for Sadako Yamamura, the terrifying, vengeful spirit from The Ring. Sawako is called “Sadako” because of the supernatural resemblance. Because of her aloof and sad look, her companions are scared, and they keep their distance from her. But despite such behavior, she maintains an innocent and hardworking heart.
Given his sincere desire to make friends, Sawako has a deep admiration for Shouta Kazehaya, the most popular boy in his class. Through her fresh personality and smooth interpersonal interactions, Kazehaya naturally draws people in. Desiring to be more like him, Sawako begins to spend more time with Kazeya. Attempting to turn over a new leaf, Sawako encourages herself to explore new things she’d never dared to do before, with Kazehaya right next to her. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
