TSM vs Golden Guardian
LCS fans finally got their long-time wish as we saw Chime raise his name, the Bard.
GG was once again active in the opening game as he killed the bot in three minutes to get first blood and second to Stixx, but Chime withdrew two trades to kills. Both teams first sent five for the Herald but after GG got a pick on Maple, TSM could not hit the objective, so they responded by diving into the top lane. With his bot lane lead, GG also got his first drake of the game. TSM, on the other hand, continued to target the top lane with another dive, this time they went 2-for-1 and the gold was still there after almost everything. TSM then started the Second Herald, and when the objective was stolen they won the fight with two kills after a great chime ult and their lead was now 1.5k. The teams traded a few kills in mid-game, but neither was very close in spirit, with GG taking a 2-1 lead in the 24th minute and 3.5k in TSM gold. TSM then killed Oleh and secured himself a Baron.
TSM laid siege to the bot lane with their Baron, taking down a blocker and extending their lead to 7.5k. Then Chaim finds another great association with his ultimate who kills him in two. GG decided to fight 3v5 with the Corky Package, but they were successful and TSM ended the game.
- Teams: TSM – GG
- Time: 27:35
- Kills: 17 – 6
- Turret: 8 – 2
- Gold: 53.6k – 44.6k
- Dragons: 1 – 2
- Barons: 1 – 0
Evil Geniuses vs Flyquest
In the opening game, EG had an advantage in most of the lanes and after a successful gank from Inspired we had a lot of first blood for them in the mid lane. With some CS lead, EG had plus 1k gold in the sixth minute, leading to the first Drake take. FLY got his first kill in the bot lane when Danny stayed in the street in 1v2. He also got a 2-for-1 trade in a top-side fight that gave him the First Herald. Even with the kill tied at 15, Lane CS lead and first tower meant a 2k gold advantage for EG. And after another kill by Inspired, EG got the second Drake of the game. During the middle game, EG was the team looking for plays, while FLY struggled to respond, increasing their lead to nearly 5k and placing them at Mountain Soul Point. We had a team fight in FLY’s Red Side Jungle while EG was looking for Baron Vision, but he didn’t need it as he got FLY clean in the fight and ended the game right then and there.
- Teams: EG – FLY
- Time: 27:07
- Kills: 13 – 5
- Turret: 8 – 1
- Gold: 52.4k – 42.5k
- Dragons: 3 – 1
- Barons: 0 – 0
Cloud9 vs Team Liquid
The match of the week began with action as C9 got first blood with a double kill and a jungle gank in the bot lane, but TL responded with a single kill from Bwipo. It was favorable for C9 who set up a 1k gold lead and took first Drake, but top pressure meant the first Herald went to TL. There was no tower down when the plate fell and the gold was almost par and TL getting another Herald and C9 getting another Drake. TL had a huge tower advantage during mid game with a 1k lead, but C9 found themselves getting Ocean Soul points very early. We saw 5v5 without a kill in the 23rd minute, but C9 managed to snatch themselves a Baron after the TL members were called back. C9 also won the fight for the fourth Drake 2-for-0 and took the spirit. With kills, souls and some towers, C9 had a 3k lead when their buff ended.
Around the 25th minute, it was stopped due to some ping issues. We came back from break to Baron Tech from C9, but he lost 3 members in the fight that followed. The kills meant that C9 could not extend their lead against the Elder, so they had to fight on an equal footing. We had one of the longest stand-offs around the Elder, lasting about 3-4 minutes. But C9 won the final 3-for-2 fight, securing Elder and their third Baron of the game with Elder. Instead of laying siege to multiple lanes, he used his double buffs to push to the top and get to the two Nexus towers. TL was engaged but C9 still had Elder and played it brilliantly, securing the fight and ending the game with a triple kill from his deathless ADC.
- Teams: C9 – TL
- Time: 37:51
- Kills: 16 – 10
- Turret: 8 – 5
- Gold: 73k – 62.5k
- Dragons: 5 – 0
- Barons: 3 – 0
100 Thieves Vs Immortals
The game began with both the junglers focusing on their absolute clear. We saw some poses during the 100T attack but there was no fight on it. With three push lanes, 100T started the first Herald but IMT countered it in time and stole the objective and they also took the first Drake. There were no kills at the 12-minute mark, but the 100T still had over 1k gold lead thanks to the tower plates and CS lead. The first blood and another kill came up from IMT due to a good turn around from IgNar. A second set of objectives this time herald for the IMT and a drake was traded with around 100 tonnes of gold. Despite IMT getting their second Drake, 100T had a 1.2k gold lead in the 22nd minute after consecutive dives on Revenge. 100T were unable to take advantage of his lead as he left Spirit Point to IMT after Abedgej was elected.
But a friendly fight was enough for 100T as they found a pick on PoE and turned it into an absolute ace. Then he defied the purpose and went straight for the end.
- Teams: 100T – IMT
- Time: 32:13
- Kills: 7 – 6
- Turret: 7 – 3
- Gold: 56.7k – 52k
- Dragons: 1 – 3
- Barons: 0 – 0
Counter Logic Gaming vs Dignitas
The last game of the day was a disastrous start for Digg as they lost a Level-1 All-in 2v2, First Blood Plus One Kill over Luger. The action continued immediately with a 1-for-1 trade at CLG Jungle. After all calmed down, CLG had a lead of 1.2k gold in four minutes. But Digg returned with a jungle gank in the bot lane, getting 2-for-1 for himself, and he took the first Drake. There were 14 goals in the game before the tenth minute and CLG extended their lead to over 2.5k after taking the first Herald. Kills kept coming throughout the middle game, unfortunately for Digg although they were similar trades, so the gold lead continued to grow. CLG took the first Baron a minute after he was born as he received three kills. His gold lead was over 10k at the 21-minute mark.
With his lead and the Baron buff, CLG had an easy siege and took middle and bot blockers and cloud soul points. They continued their siege after their Baron finished and achieved the third intercept, but they were overtaken and three kills to Digg with a big shutdown. Even with a few throws, CLG still had a 10k+ lead and got the second Baron. Then they pushed once again for the end, and even though the fight looked close, they managed to finish the game.
- Teams: CLG – DIG
- Time: 29:14
- Kills: 19 – 14
- Turret: 11 – 1
- Gold: 65k – 51.7k
- Dragons: 3 – 1
- Barons: 2 – 0
