Official website of the television anime adaptation of Daisuke Aizawa’s Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! (The Eminence in Shadow) light novel revealed additional cast, crew and third promotional video on Wednesday. The anime will premiere on October 5th at 10:30 p.m. AT-X, followed by Tokyo MX, TV Aichi, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV and BS-NTV.
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Mob Psycho 100) and Shin Matsushige (Dr. Stone) join the cast as Hyoro Alley and Jaga Imo, friends of Seid Kagenou, respectively.

Kazuya Nakanishi (Comic Girls assistant director) is helming the anime at Nexus. Kanichi Katou (Mashiro no Otto) is handling the creation of the series and Makoto Ino (Tatoiba’s Last Dungeon Mai no Mura no Shnen ga Joban no Machi de Kurasu Yuna Monogatari) is designing the characters.
Aizawa began writing novels on the Shosetsuka ni Narou website in May 2018. Kadokawa began printing the series in November of the same year under his Enterbrain label, featuring Toujai’s illustrations. The fourth volume went on sale last February 26.
Anri Sakano (Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou desu yo? Z) debuted a manga adaptation in Monthly Comp Ace in December 2018. Kadokawa will release the eighth volume on September 26. The magazine also began serializing a spin-off by Seta U. In July 2019, the third volume of which is released on 26 March.
Yen Press licensed the light novel and manga adaptation in English in May 2019 and this January, and published the fourth novel volume on June 7. The fourth volume of the manga shipped on 7 December, with the fifth volume scheduled for release on 20 September.
