We finally get our first look Super Mario Bros. Movie And surprisingly the best part is the king of all koopas, Bowser, as voiced by Jack Black. Nintendo premiered the first trailer for the film during New York Comic-Con. The film also stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, along with many more recognizable voices and names. Super Mario Bros. Movie It is set for release on 7th April, 2023.
It should come as no surprise that Bowser is the best part of our first look at the film, a co-production between Nintendo and Illumination (the studio behind). minions), considering that he is definitely the main character of the trailer. It begins with his terrifying flying lava-castle, which floats towards the ice kingdom, before he mocks some silly penguin and burns their empire to the ground. It’s appropriately both dangerous and silly, but the real cherry on top is Jack Black’s voice work.
Black seems to be doing something that looks like Macho Man Randy Savage was asked to provide the voice of Smaug from the second Hobbit movie. He’s loud and full of bravery and arrogance, without losing the edge that makes everything seem like a joke. Even better, Illumination seems to have managed to tap into some of Black’s signature facial expressions for the character.

Talking about the special talents of Jack Black, the actor has also Confirmed That he would bring a small part of his rock experience to Bowser in what could be a musical number.
Yet another reason why we shouldn’t be shocked that Bowser is the standout of the first trailer is that Mario is, frankly, a little boring. I mean, on the one hand he is voiced by Chris Pratt, who barely appears to be voicing or uttering, but then again, what does Pratt really have to work with. Mario is just a boy. He doesn’t have a huge fangs shell or breathing fire. He doesn’t even fight ghosts like his brother Luigi – who is voiced by Charlie Day in the film and also appears for some spectacular seconds in the trailer.
Even if Bowser’s only true winner is Super Mario Bros. MovieThe first trailer of the film will surely have many more looks before it hits the theaters next year.
