It looks like Death Stranding is coming to PC Game Pass.
Also not officially announced, but pc game pass account (opens in new tab) changed his avatar to a Death Stranding Vista image on Twitter and posted a tweet that says “sometimes we love a good landscape photo.” Hey you guys
Responses to the tweet cast some doubt as to whether the screenshot was from Death Stranding or another game, but then someone found the rock depicted in the PC Game Pass avatar and posted a screenshot (opens in new tab) Norman Reedus peeing on her. So, yeah, I think Death Stranding is coming to PC Game Pass at some point.
A related but unnecessary consideration: Last year, Microsoft renamed the PC version of Game Pass to “Xbox Game Pass for PC.” The old name was bad, but now I’m wondering if this scenario was even a consideration. Game Pass has always offered only a few games on PC, but Death Stranding is a special case: Microsoft cannot offer it on the Xbox version of Game Pass because the console version was published by Sony exclusively for the PlayStation console. . (The PC version was published by 505 Games.)
Neither Sony nor Microsoft would benefit from causing confusion by putting the word “Death Stranding” next to “Xbox”—both would have to ask questions about the non-existent Xbox version of Death Stranding. So PC Game Pass could be renamed, maybe?
I’m guessing. Console wars have gotten pretty complicated, though, eh? It used to be simple: Mario vs Sonic, Halo vs Killzone. Now the PC has become a strangely central area where the divide between console factions has blurred. We’ve benefited as PC gamers, but I’m a little nostalgic for the old-fashioned motion controller arms race.
In addition to the Death Stranding teases, Xbox recently announced the games coming to PC Game Pass and the games leaving it this month (opens in new tab). A highlight in the coming soon category is Every Story creator Sam Barlow’s new FMV game, Immortality. Some bad news is that Paatal Lok is dropping Game Pass at the end of August along with a few other popular games.
