Now that the next installment of Haiku is slowly approaching, we’ve compiled this list of 10 characters we want to see more of in Season 5. Some of the members of the feature will include volleyball players that aren’t fully established in the anime, while others apparently deserve additional scenes. So, without any delay, let’s get started.
wakatsu kiryu

Wakatsu Kiryu is one of the top three aces mentioned in haiku in just a few moments. However, despite his brief appearance in haiku, the anime adaptation has only vaguely featured this remarkable character! At the top when he watches the match between Karasuno and Inarizaki.
With Season 5, we expect to see more of Kiryu learn more about Mujinazaka High’s Wing Spyker as the anime continues to research his opponents. Furthermore, as the ace of his team, we want to discover his playing style and the strategies used by Wakatsu so that we can understand why he is considered the best.
kenma kozume

Although we’ve already gotten several episodes of Kenma, we can’t help but want more of this introverted character now that the next season will focus on Dumpster Battles. With that in mind, this setter will undoubtedly think of creative ways to tackle Asahi Azumane’s powerful spike, Shoyo Hinata and Tobio Kageyama’s new volleyball moves, and the rest of the team’s strategy.
Kenma has indicated that he is looking forward to fighting Karasuno due to his unique relationship with Hinata, which could mean a different side to the character in Season 5.
Based on past volleyball matches, we know that his heart is not entirely in the game; However, this upcoming showdown could change that, such as how Kei Tsukishima dropped the battle cry after blocking Wakatoshi Ushijima’s left-handed spike.
Tadashi Yamaguchi

Tadashi Yamaguchi has repeatedly tried to prove himself as Karasuno’s pinch server, and we hope he makes an epic revival during the Nekoma match. In Season 4, Yamaguchi hasn’t had much luck, with only a few points that have helped in dire situations, such as his serve aces in Tsubakihara and Inarizaki matches.
In addition to all the nerves on the court, Yamaguchi feels a little jealous of Karasuno’s other pinch server, Hisashi Kinoshita, who is determined to catch up with his fellow other years. So, can Tadashi defend himself against Nekoma’s cat-like reflexes? We will have to wait and see how he deals with the skills of this opposing team and if he manages to score some points, similar to the events of the Aoba Johsai match.

Since Ikai Ukai is one of the people responsible for the rivalry against Nekoma, it makes sense for him to be in Season 5, mainly because of his discussion with his grandson at the end of Haiku! Top most. Honestly, we want this old mentor to be proud of his boys because he didn’t especially see the potential of Karasuno’s seniors and juniors.
The character appears primarily in Season 3’s thrilling match against Shiratorizawa Academy, where we can see his stunned face after the team scores several goals. Now that Dumpster Battle is making its way to anime, we hope to be amazed again with Grandpa Ukai Karasuno’s newly refined skills.
tetsuro kuru

Nekoma’s captain, Tetsuro Kuru, has been in several installments of Haiku, including an episode depicting his origin story in Land VS. Air arc. But, having one story from all the different seasons is not enough to fully establish this important character.
Like Kenma, Kuru can also change during the course of Karasuno matches, causing his self-confident personality to falter with the team’s latest battle plans. His relationship with Daiichi Sawamura has also been a bit passive-aggressive, so this could result in a hilarious/intense moment between the two during the match.
Korai smart

Several major characters were introduced in Haiku Season 4, including volleyball player Korei Hoshiyami, who almost imitates Little Giant due to his short but powerful demeanor.
What sets him apart from Hinata (who also tries to play the Tiny Giant) is the fact that he’s actually the ace of his team at Komomedai High.
Because haiku! To the Top featured a brief interaction with Korai and Shoyo, just so everyone wants to see even more interactions between them as the season progresses. Also, two little kings can face each other in a match if Karasuno Nekoma wins the game, and it’s always a good idea to advance our knowledge of the opposing side.
suguru daisho

Suguru Daisho’s character development was a surprising element within the latest story as our first impressions of him were not the greatest. Still, he was somehow able to change our minds by becoming the narrator of all the matches at the Tokyo Nationals, joining in on the fun with a sweet side story from his ex-girlfriend, Mika Yamaka.
Daisho narrates the match with Karasuno vs. Inarizaki, and we expect him to do it again with the Nekoma fight. Also, he has a relationship with the boys of Metropolitan Necoma High School after losing the previous game against them, which may make some lewd comments we can’t wait to hear.
kiyumi sakusa

Everyone’s favorite germophobe, Kiyumi Sakusa, is the country’s top ace who attends an all-Japan youth training camp with Kageyama. During this camp, his effortless playing style and his blunt personality got a deep glimpse of him.
However, despite Kiyumi’s vague mention in the Tokyo Expedition arc, this incident is one of the only times we really understand the character. We also know that his team recently bested the legendary Fukurodani Academy, a group that Karasuno struggled with in training.
All these gestures and appearances could eventually lead Kiyumi and his team to a national victory, but other stronger members could win the tournament.
Shohei Fukunaga
Source: Production IG
Shohei Fukunaga didn’t have a lot of presence at the beginning of the show, including a limited amount of time where we could see her in practice matches and the lovely barbecue scene. But, this aspect changes when he proves his worth for Nekoma after scoring a massive amount of points during the Nohebi and Sarukawa games.
Aside from Fukanaga’s sheer brilliance, he adds a sense of humor to the game by just going with the flow and saying whatever he wants. For example, after Kenma throws him a perfect pass, he can be seen making a funny face as he spikes the ball with precision.
With these two factors, Karasuno will certainly find the character challenging in the upcoming game and may possibly see his weirdness during Dumpster Battles as intimidating.
tenma rise
Source: Production IG
Although Tenma Uday (The Little Giant) is unlikely to appear in Season 5, we still expect to see him because of his overall influence on Karasuno, such as when his talent inspires Daiichi and Hinata. It’s been a while since we last heard about her, and of course, it’s the same tournament she participated in in high school.
Even if the Little Giant doesn’t show up, we might still get a flashback of him with Grandpa Ukai. For example, this depressed component occurred during the spring high initial arc, where Ukai shows a similarity between him and Hinata.
Whatever ends in Season 5, there will certainly be various commemorative scenes with many of Haiku’s beloved characters, and fans will finally experience the showdown between Karasuno and Nekoma.
