
National Hockey League (NHL) has announced that the league’s corporate partner Great Clips, Honda, Navy Federal Credit Union And scotiabank will return as partners for its esports tournament, NHL Gaming World Championship in 2022.
Partners will continue to support the NHL Gaming World Championship with digital and in-person activations during the event’s fifth season. Along with Great Clips and Navy Federal Credit Union, Honda will serve as the event’s official automotive partner and Scotiabank as the exclusive Canadian partner.

The tournament, played in both Europe and North America, will have a prize pool of $100,000 (~£76,677). The tournament will be produced by DreamHack Sports Games for the second year in a row after the esports production company agreed a partnership with the NHL in 2021.

Interestingly, all four of the NHL Gaming World Championship partners are also real-world NHL partners. Scotiabank and Honda were the tournament’s first two partners at the time of its inception in 2018.
The Great Clips are entering their fourth year of partnership and with Navy Federal Credit Union being the youngest partner, the current season is the third year the union is supporting the NHL’s esports efforts.
Esports Insider says: It’s good to see that the NHL Gaming World Championship is continuing to see notable participation from the NHL, while also bringing in endemic brands like HyperX in 2021.
