God of War Ragnarök, Hogwarts Legacy, Tekken 8… We give you a summary of all the announcements that were made during the State of Play on September 13, 2022.
After the Nintendo Direct broadcast this afternoon, it’s now Sony’s turn to take the floor to give us some news about its upcoming games over the next few months. Unfortunately, for this first official communication time since Juneit was not a PlayStation Showcase that we were dealing with but a new edition of the State of Play which, as the Tokyo Game Show approached, decided to focus on the productions of the publisher’s Japanese partners. And if you weren’t able to follow the conference live, here is a complete summary of all announcements that were made there.
Tekken 8 officially announced
Sony is starting the evening off strong with the announcement of a new episode of Tekken, soberly titled Tekken 8which was illustrated via an explosive gameplay trailer taken from the PS5 version of the game. Unfortunately, we will not have more information on this future title published by Bandai Namco for the moment.
Two PlayStation VR2 games revealed
This had been announced by Sony, this State of Play was the opportunity to very quickly announce two new projects to come for the PlayStation VR2. The first, Star Wars: Tales of the Galaxy’s Edge, will be an improved version of the title released on the Oculus Quest in 2020. It will arrive in 2023. The second, Demeo, is a new RPG title developed by Resolution. He had no exit window.
Like a Dragon: Ishin is exported outside of Japan
Only available in Japan so far, Like a Dragon: Ishin! will land on PS4 and PS5 from February 2023 in the rest of the world. It is a spin-off of the Yakuza series developed by Sega and taking place in the Bakamatsu era, in 1868 more precisely.
Hogwarts Legacy is getting talked about again
It is one of the most anticipated titles of 2023, and it did not hesitate to talk about it again during this State of Play. We are obviously talking aboutHogwarts Legacy, which was entitled to a new trailer in the same atmosphere as the one broadcast during Gamescom a few weeks ago. As a reminder, the game is now expected for February 10 on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
IronWood unveils Pacific Drive, its first game
This State of Play was an opportunity for IronWood, a new studio, to announce its first game coming in 2023 on PS5 and PC: Pacific Drive. Combining car gameplay and first-person survival gameplay, it will take place on the Pacific coast of the United States and will require you to progress through the Olympic Exclusion Zone, a mysterious and surreal place that has been abandoned for years.
The PlayStation Stars is on the starting blocks
The PlayStation Stars program, announced earlier this year, today received a bit more detail from Sony. Some of the collectibles that will be possible to recover have for example been presented while it was announced that the service will start arriving as soon as the end of the month in certain territories in Asia.
Bandai Namco announces SYNDUALITY
The publisher announced tonight a new dystopian adventure titled SYNDUALITY, which will invite players to immerse themselves in the post-apocalyptic world of Amasia alongside Magus, an AI. Armed with a mecha, it will then be necessary to fight to recover resources, avoid the rain and reconquer the lands lost by humanity. The game is expected for 2023.
Project EVE becoming Stellar Blade
Announced in 2019, Korean action-RPG Project Eve was shown today via a long trailer mixing cutscenes and gameplay, which tells us in passing that the title will eventually be called Stellar Blade. Developed by SHIFT UP, it will arrive from 2023 exclusively on PS5.
Team Ninja Announces Rise of the Ronin
Known for their work on licenses like Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden and most recently Nioh, Team Ninja today announced their next title, an action-RPG titled Rise of the Ronin, which will arrive in 2024 exclusively on PS5. As its name suggests, the story will take place in Japan and will place us in control of a ronin.
A trailer and a collector controller for God of War Ragnarök
To end on a high note, Sony obviously did not fail to remind the public that the release of God of War Ragnarök is approaching with a long and impressive trailer mixing cutscenes and gameplay. As a reminder, the game will arrive on November 9 on PS4 and PS5. Note thata DualSense controller in the colors of the Santa Monica title has also been unveiled for the occasion. It will arrive on the day of the game’s release.
