For the sixth consecutive year, the GameForce will take place in Belgium in October 2019 in Mechelen. This year again, this event will be an opportunity to discover AAA games, meet independent developers, admire the best cosplays, and stock up on merchandise from popular video games.
For the first time, GameForce and RAVEN are also hosting a Virtual Reality Championship as part of the event. The players will be able to compete on Beat Saber and Onward games, and the prize pool is 2000 euros.
GameForce organizes the first Belgian VR championship
As a reminder, Onward is a tactical FPS launched in November 2017 by Downpour Interactive. It is one of the most popular multiplayer VR games, and it can be found in most VR eSport tournaments such as VR Master League or VR League.
While Onward games usually pit two teams of five players against each other, GameForce has chosen to have teams of only three players compete against each other. The winner of the tournament will receive 850 euros, the second 400 euros, and the third 250 euros.
For its part, Beat Saber has been available since May 1, 2018 and is often considered the best virtual reality game. because of its fun and easy-to-use appearance. Moreover, anyone can come and try to qualify during the four qualifying events to hope to win a place for the grand final… the winner will receive 350 euros, the second 100 euros, and the third 50 euros.
The qualifying events will take place in four different Belgian cities. The first will take place at Westland Shopping in Anderlecht on August 31, 2019, the second at Shopping Ghent South in Ghent on September 7, 2019, the third at Woluwe Shopping Center in Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe on September 14, 2019, and the last on September 21, 2019. September 2019 at Anspach Shopping in Brussels.
Teams wishing to participate in the Onward tournament are invited to register at this address. For Beat Saber, registrations are not mandatory, but recommended. The winners of the qualifiers will receive an invitation to the final, which will take place on October 6, 2019 at the Nekkerhal in Mechelen during GameForce.
