Dear Polygon,
I like to find games (not necessarily cooperative) that I can play with my wife. The most real successful game we used to play together was Samorost 3 – Vibe, Puzzles, Creativity, we both enjoyed a lot. I personally play a wide variety of games, but finding something that my wife and I can talk about as players and play together can be a little daunting. Story items, some puzzles, and interesting aesthetics can all charm him!
We’re keen to explore some of Amanita’s other games, like Samorost 3, and have our eye on Stray, as we both love cats. My wife also gets motion sickness from watching video games, very first person to nod and look around, so it’s a bit limiting.

Hi, Brett. Finding the right game to play with a partner is really important, as playing the wrong one can cause chaos and frustration on the part of both players – especially if one is less experienced than the other. If you’re looking for a collaborative experience, you won’t want to play a competitive classic like mario party or an input-heavy, intense game like overcooked, Finding the right cooperative game is something I’m totally struggling with – especially when playing with friends or family who aren’t used to the game like me.
I know you’re not necessarily looking for a game to play cooperatively, but I think I have a game that will be perfect nonetheless. and it’s just Happens To be cooperative
While my husband and I sometimes play competitive sports like overwatch Together, we both have more fun when there is cooperation. He’s not into sports like me, and I accept little Frustrated if he can’t keep up. But last year, I found a game that was perfect for us: Chicory: A Colorful Story,
Chicory: A Colorful Story A 2D adventure game about a dog with a paintbrush who needs to bring color back to a black and white world. When Chicory, a famous painter and paintbrush, stops painting, it’s up to the player to handle it. The most exciting element (at least, for you, dear reader) is that it can be played with two players, with one person navigating the world of dog, pizza, while the other player takes control of a paintbrush. (Pizza is the dog’s canon name, but you choose a name based on your favorite food. If you’re me, your pizza’s name would be Watercress. If you were review editor Mike Mahardi, your dog would be Cassiatore.)
Each of these players has different abilities, all of which are important in solving ChicoryThe puzzle The player controlling the pizza is in charge of navigating the real game world – where your controller instructs, the pizza goes. The player is responsible for maneuvering through puzzles and interacting with the environment and talking to non-playable characters. On the other hand, the player on the paintbrush is responsible for coloring the world. The paintbrush moves independently of the pizza, and the other player has several different colors and brushes at their disposal. They’ve got to have fun coloring everything, but it’s still an essential part of the game. several of ChicoryKey puzzles require paint to adjust to the world in major ways: for example, there are flowers that need color to bloom, and in their bloomed state, they require paint to transcend pizza. become a bridge. When they’re uncolored, they turn into tiny flowers, and pizza can’t pass up.
These types of puzzles range widely both in terms of difficulty and involvement of the players, and the fun is in finding out what bits move and change, and how – or if – the colors change the world in some intriguing ways. Will give It is a multiplayer dynamic that requires players to talk to each other, ask for help and give ideas while playing. But it is actually accomplished when both players eventually understand each other and the language of the game so well that the same calls for help are no longer necessary.
I think it might be something that you and your wife really enjoy. It’s a really beautiful game with beautiful design, true heart and a touching story – personally, it was my favorite game last year!
Also I want to thank you For a recommendation! I had not heard of samorosto 3 – or any of the samorost games – before reading your letter. The art style is amazing, and I can’t wait to try it out. Chicory: A Colorful Story Sounds completely different, but I’d love to hear how you and your wife deal with it.

PS: citizen sleeper There is another game my husband and I are playing together. It’s single-player, so one of us is controlling and the other is only helping to make the decisions. It’s like a digital tabletop role-playing game with lots of reading and decision making. Your wife definitely won’t get motion sickness here!
