After breaking the winning streak on Tuesday, the Montreal Canadiens decided to make a fresh start on Thursday night. They not only went up against one of the top teams in the league, but also against one of the best playing clubs at the moment in the season, and came out with an overtime win, having struck a chord with the Calgary Flames.

Winning again tonight means splitting the season with the Edmonton Oilers, who won the first game on January 29. Former Hubs head coach Dominic Ducharm infamously said in a post-game appearance that night that the Canadiens had at least excluded Conor McDavid. Scoresheet – in a 7-2 loss.
