It looks like Bungie is hard at work on its mobile gaming engine, at least according to a new job listing.
The listing, seen by The Game Post, looks for a new “Senior Mobile Platform Engineer.” It looks like the company is looking for a candidate who can help “expand the technology” that Bungie’s games rely on to reach “players on the iOS and Android mobile platforms”.
The preferred candidate for the role would be “excited to develop Bungie’s internal game engine to support the mobile platform” and “solve the interesting problems of supporting mobile, including player controls, UI, performance optimization, and size reduction.” will do.”
Preferred experience includes working as a software engineer on mobile games or iOS/Android applications. It certainly sounds like a recruiting round for the right person to come on board and start working on the mobile engine, but Bungie has been officially silent on the subject.
This isn’t the first round of mobile-focused positions Bungie has hired. Previously, the developer had sought an art director, executive producer and senior test manager. Previous experience is required for all positions in the mobile gaming space, pointing to a potential movement into the realm of a new mobile game.
However, nothing is confirmed or rumored about bringing Destiny 2 to mobile devices. In fact, the developer is actually working on a new character-focused third-person action title, so this obvious move toward mobile could include that game.
Speaking of which, that game was also spotted via job listing and is being billed as a “brand new” title that will include the PvP elements seen in Destiny 2. Candidates are being asked to come with “character work experience”. focused third-person action game (platformer, isometric, etc.)”. Again, this is just an approximation taken from the positions Bungie has been hired for, but there are certainly some interesting leaps to be made in terms of development. has been
