Let’s face the reality; Not all alien weapons get the same amount of love and use as the others in Destiny 2, especially in the endgame content. A prime example of this would be Arbalest, the Exotic Linear Fusion Rifle, which saw little use in high-end content last season, until it gained anti-champion functionality in Season 15. Since then, Arbalest has been a staple in players’ loadouts for essentially everyone. Forms of endgame content, such as Raid and Nightfall.
But what if other under-performing exotic weapons got the same treatment? That’s why today we will discuss 10 alien weapons that should get further anti-champion functionality in Destiny,
(Note: this list is in no particular order)
hold of salvation

The Salvation’s Grip, the first alien stasis weapon, is a weapon that sees little or no use in any of the game’s content. The original “purpose” of this gun was to use the stasis crystal it would generate to shatter other crystals found throughout Europa to be discovered back in the Beyond Light campaign. Since then, except perhaps for its use for platforming purposes, the gun’s relevance has since faded.
But adding anti-champion functionality to the weapon could take things a big turn. In the last season, the grenade launcher was given a seasonal mode, invincible grenade launcher, That said, if the Salvation Grip is given an intrinsically unstoppable anti-champion function, gun use could skyrocket the rocket. Of course, not to the extent of Arbalest, but in doing so it gives the weapon the ability to stun Unstoppable Champions in endgame content without the need for Seasonal mods. This ability is highly needed because very few alien weapons in the game have built-ins unstoppable.
osteo striga

Introduced in the Witch Queen DLC, the Osteo Striga Exotic submachine gun still remains as a great option for clearing rooms of enemies in one fell swoop. However, soon after release, players quickly realized that the gun had no value other than defeating a group of enemies at once. This attribute is of course valued in a lot of content, but for example when facing scenarios such as Nightfall activities where a specific loadout is required, unless the weapon has anti-champion functionality, The value of the gun depreciates quickly.
Submachine guns are notorious for having overload round As their seasonal anti-champion mode, thus following tradition, Osteo Striga should be given overloaded rounds internally. This will allow not only to deal with large groups of enemies at once, but also to deal with the often annoying overload champions, who are notorious for being the hardest to kill in endgame content. Osteo Striga has the potential to be one of the strongest primary weapons in the game, and by adding anti-champion functionality to it, its potential can be fully realized.
Sunshot

The first exotic weapon ever revealed for Destiny 2, the Sunshot Exotic Hand Cannon has experienced its ups and downs throughout the years. It recently became the center of attention in the haunted season, when the Solar subclass received its major resale and Sunshot was front and center for most Solar 3.0 builds. This weapon is great for small-scale stuff like strikes or seasonal activities. But in endgame, it shows little use.
being added invincible hand cannon The internals for the weapon will allow the Solar 3.0 build to shine even more in the endgame content. The Sunshot is great gun to use when clearing waves of enemies, such as the Osteo Striga, as mentioned above, but clashes against stronger foes like Champions. Giving this weapon anti-champion functionality will give it the respect it deserves and will continue to be a staple in modern loadouts.
Tiku’s Prediction

Similar to the other alien primary weapons we’ve discussed, Tiku’s Divination is a very strong weapon that can clear hordes of enemies very quickly, but struggles against tough opponents. last season where seasonal was one of the anti-champion mods overload bowSpeculation of Tiku saw a lot of play, especially in content like Nightfall. But since the return of Overload Bow over the past three seasons, Teiku’s use has waned.
However, unlike other weapons, the Tiku is in a unique position where any Anti-Champion mod can be mounted on it. However, in our experience, the Overload Bow would be best suited for this, as the Tiku is great for tracking and destroying them easily.
borealis

Introduced in the Red War campaign, the Borealis is a unique exotic sniper rifle where it was never good or bad to use it in a way. Its exotic feature is similar to the alien auto rifle, Hardlight, where it can change its damage type, cycling between Solar, Ark and Void. Although it sounds good on paper, unfortunately, it never excels when used in games. However, adding Anti-Champion functionality to it may change a lot for it.
Sniper rifles are often given anti-barrier sniper Mods during a given season, such as the current season of loot that is running in the game. If Borealis were to be given an inherently anti-barrier sniper, its use for hardcore stuff like Grandmaster Nightfalls could skyrocket, for example.
Skyburner’s Oath

Like the Borealis, the Oath of the Skyburner is an exotic scout rifle that looks good on paper, but when used in practice, it fails to meet expectations. Its main advantage is Cabal deals extra damage to enemies, which sounds great, but it doesn’t sell as much damage as players would like. Unfortunately, Skyburner needs an overall buff before it can get the Anti-Champion functionality.
In general, scout rifles are similar to bows, where they can be modified with several champion mods, Anti-Barrier Scout or Invincible Scout has been the main option. In this case, any of the mods mentioned would work well with Oath of Skyburner, and if it gets buffs, the weapon has the potential to become a top-tier option for players’ loadouts.
legend of acrius

The first red drop exotic weapon in Destiny 2 and the first exotic heavy shotgun in the franchise, The Legend of Acrius has seen varying uses over the years. In Year 1 of Destiny 2, the weapon saw a solid amount of use in almost all activities. However, as the years went on and other stronger weapons were released, this rapidly diminished. Similar to Oath of Skyburner, Legend of Acrius is another weapon that requires an overall buff before gaining Anti-Champion mode.
That said, currently only Anti-Champion mods can get Shogan invincible shotgun, If Legend of Acrius were to be given this naturally with an overall fondness for the weapon, it could potentially increase the range of raid weapons once again. However, close combat would not be wise in endgame stuff like Raid or Grandmaster Nightfall.
hard heart

The first exotic trace rifle introduced to the franchise, Coldheart began his glory days in Destiny 2. However, like Legend of Acrius, as the years passed since its release, its use quickly faded away as better guns were released. Especially in Destiny 2’s third year, when the Shadowkeep DLC launches, where Coldheart will have a direct competitor, another Arc Exotic trace rifle, Divinity. However, both the weapons are used in different situations.
Divinity has been and continues to be a support weapon for teams to guarantee critical hits against enemies. On top of that, it was the second alien weapon to have an inherently anti-champion mod in addition to the gun, as overload round, Coldheart, on the other hand, is a damage focused weapon that continues to deal additional damage when the weapon is used for a long period of time. In year one, Coldheart was one of the “go to” weapons for Endgame content. If the gun were to be given overloaded rounds, and a potential damage buff, the Coldheart could potentially become a “go to” weapon once again.
bad juju

Yet another case of “looks good on paper but results poorly when used in practice”, the exotic pulse rifle, the Bad JuJu, could use some help. Gaining more Super Energy per kill is a great advantage for an alien weapon; However, in this case, it doesn’t seem to be enough. As we discussed with some of the previous weapons above, this gun requires an overall buff before it can achieve anti-champion functionality.
That said, Pulse Rifles also has the ability to use multiple champion modes, Anti-barrier pulse and unstoppable pulse. In this case, the unstoppable pulse may be a good fit for bad juju but the anti-barrier pulse can work just as effectively. The combination of Champion Mode as well as the ability to increase your Super Energy per kill can lead to some remarkable builds for endgame activities.
proven outbreak

Proven outbreak. Definitely one of the most beloved weapons in the Destiny franchise. We first saw this weapon in Destiny 1 as Outbreak Prime, but later brought it to Destiny 2 and redone in Outbreak Perfect. When it was released back in Season 6, it completely dominated the game and was unanimously the best primary weapon in the game. Now, things have changed in Season 18. Outbreak Perfect is still a powerful gun to use in most game content. However, it does not dominate as before.
Adding anti-champion functionality could help put this gun back at the top of the pecking order. Since the outbreak is a pulse rifle, Anti-barrier pulse and unstoppable pulse However, given the nature of the gun and how it can be used, anti-barrier pulse would be a better option for it. Giving this weapon a champion mod will increase its value tenfold, and may once again be a staple for hardcore content.
That’s all for now. Destiny 2’s loot season is well underway and hopefully in future updates and seasons we can potentially see some of these exotic weapons get the way they deserve.
